We talk about it all the time; you spend a ton of time in your kitchen, whether your cooking dinner, helping the kids with homework, or entertaining. When you’re home, you are in your kitchen a lot! When buying a home, a lot of buyers check out the kitchen first to see if they could see themselves spending time there. It’s arguably the most important room in the house. When homeowners think about updating their home, they usually think about updating the kitchen first. We have put together a list of trending kitchen upgrades that are worth a look:
Quartz has become pretty popular over the past few years. Compared to granite, quartz is more durable since it’s a manufactured stone it is not pouris like granite. It is very similar looking to granite and is roughly in the same price range so it really comes down to personal preference. However, hot pans should not be set on Quartz.
Bold Cabinet Colors
While dark brown & white cabinets are still “in”, more and more people are opting to paint their cabinets with bold colors like navy, pale pink, or shades of green. Now, this could seem like a huge gamble if you were remodeling in order to sell the home, since you may limit your buyer pool if they don’t like the cabinet color choice. If you are remodeling to live in the home this could be a really fun way to mix it up!
Gold, Rose Gold, & Copper Hardware
Gold & brass have really been making a comeback ever since rose gold started gaining popularity. It seems more and more people are changing out their silver or nickel hardware for these metals to add and extra pop of color. Designers are even mix and matches these metals!
Geometric and Textured Backsplashes
The days of simple subway tiles seem to be behind us. People are now opting for more complex geometric tiling while sometimes using two or 3 different shaped tiles to create the pattern. Textured or 3D tiles are become more popular as well. This accent adds another dimension to the kitchen.
Open shelving is becoming increasingly more popular (personally I think we have Joanna Gaines to thank for this one). You may have more dusting and organization to keep up with when taking out your kitchen cabinets and replacing them with shelves but it does open up your kitchen and your everyday items become part of your decor.
Farmhouse sinks are definitely still in, however instead of porcelain or stainless steel, people are choosing to go with stone sinks. These types of sinks don’t get scratched like stainless steel does and the don’t show water spots. Plus, they can be a great accent to the kitchen!
